I haven't even gotten a chance to blog about my first Chinese New Year in 9 years. I guess it's the same old (boring yet comforting), 'cept without my grand parents this time. They passed away in the past 8 years that I was gone. And recently, it was revealed to me that I have peranakan heritage. It really doesn't matter to me because it's not the way I have lived (I never realized that the food I ate at new year was peranakan). However, it got me thinking that a lot of tradition and family history gets lost along the way. I wonder about my parents and how much of their life story I don't know or that will get lost. Hmm, new project idea?
